Tangiers: Experience Authentic Mediterranean Flavors in Fayetteville

We literally just left this hidden Mediterranean gem in Fayetteville. We've lived in the area for a long time now and this is the best food we've had around. Seriously. Everything was amazing. From the hummus to the side salad to the falafel and kefte! We will definitely be returning asap. It isn't a big place but we like that about it too. I cannot say enough about the food and how awesome it was. We wish we would've found it much sooner. 10/10 highly highly recommend if you live in NWA!

The service was phenomenal and really good people. The food was ok. The falafels is cornbread muffins. The morrocan dish was very good from the comb platter. The rice was over cooked in oil and dry. The skewered chicken was the best of all I ate.

First time here and my wife and I agreed it’s the best Mediterranean food we’ve ever had! I got the gyro and my wife got the falafel sandwich. Well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was excellent as well, very attentive and personable Highly recommend the spicy sauce!

My husband and I decided to have a date! We wanted something new and read about Tangiers. We ate there and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was great and I can't wait to eat there again!

I’ve been to Tangiers twice now, and while I’m no expert on Mediterranean food, my wife is Arabic and grew up with this style of cooking. She says the food isn’t out-of-this-world authentic, but we’ve still had good experiences overall. The food can take a little while to come out, and the consistency hasn’t always been perfect. For example, the stuffed grape leaves were decent the first time we tried them, but the second time they were cold and pretty bitter—almost hard to eat. Some of the sides, like the fries, are just okay and don’t really stand out. The rice can be a bit dry, but it is flavorful, and their grilled items are definitely where they shine. Service has always been friendly, and I appreciate that it’s a local spot doing something different. The inside is very small, so I usually prefer sitting on the balcony or patio. Honestly, I think they’d benefit from a bigger kitchen and maybe a little more variety and consistency. That said, Fayetteville doesn’t have many sit-down options for Mediterranean food prepared in this style, and I respect that Tangiers is filling that gap. It’s local, it’s friendly, and despite a few inconsistencies, we’ve enjoyed our visits—hence the rating

I had the Fetna(?) skewers with extra vegetable skewer and my wonderful and generous mother had the appetizer sampler. She also had some sort of hot tea of which they apparently had a wide selection and she said it was very good (all pictured). The food was absolutely delicious and very filling while the service was rapid and attentive. It has nice outdoor seating. We arrived at this place by searching Google Maps for the highest rated restaurants in Fayetteville, AR and this was one of the few that was still open around 3pm. They have the best hummus. I’ve tried their chicken/beef skewers and chicken salad. Food always tastes fresh.
